The Next Generation of Black Tech Leaders

In Silicon Valley, Black Americans make up just 2.2% of the tech workforce; tech workers at Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter are 56 percent white, but 1 percent Black. What's more, just three percent of women in tech are black. Enter Felecia Hatcher , social entrepreneur honored by the White House and the Kauffman Foundation, a Black Enterprise Innovator of the Week, an Essence Magazine Tech Master, and one of Grio’s 100 African American’s Making History. Felecia spearheads Code Fever , a program helping underserved minority students learn to code, build and create enterprises. Felecia is announcing $1.2M funding round from Knight Foundation to support the expansion of Black Tech Week, which highlights Black entrepreneurial innovation and access to venture capital. In April, Code Fever will also launch a world's first VC in Residence program, where SF-based Marlon Nichols of Cross Culture Ventures - a trailblazer in diversity and inclusion in tech investing - will spend one month mentoring Code Fever entrepreneurs.
